Our program is filled with special surprises and experiences designed to enhance the growth of your child. It is our goal for your child's experiences to be positive in a creative learning environment.

Our preschool coordinator is certified by the State of Wisconsin in Early Childhood Education and our aide(s) (if class size warrants) are certified and licensed by the State of Wisconsin.

Parents are welcome to visit the classroom whenever their child is present. We encourage communication. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact either the preschool teacher or Sr. Mary Lee, school principal.

Health

State law requires all children entering a Wisconsin elementary school for the first time to be immunized. Proper immunization is 4DTP/DT, 3 Polio, 1 Measles, Mumps, Rubella, 3 Hepatitis B and 1 Varicella (chicken pox). Tine (TB) and HIB (Meningitis) is not mandatory, however highly recommended. All children entering St. Peter the Fisherman Preschool are encouraged to have a physical examination. A copy of your child's Birth Certificate and of their Social Security card is also required at the time of registration.

Dress Code

Please send your child to school in play clothes. We encourage the children to participate in all activities. If they are in play clothes we won't need to worry. If your child wears boots, please send shoes along. Also, please label all outerwear (coats, hats, mittens, boots etc).

Supplies

You will receive a list of supplies in the August mailing. You will also need to supply a change of clothes to be kept at school. We use these in case of "accidents". The supplies and clothing should be brought with your child on Orientation.

Snack

Each family will be asked to bring a snack on a rotating basis. This usually corresponds to their being "person of the day". Milk will be provided.

Birthdays

Birthdays are very special! Many parents send a special treat (cookies, cupcakes, popcorn) for their child's birthday. If you child has a summer birthday, a spring celebration will be planned.

Conferences

Conferences are offered in January or at anytime by request of parent or teacher. If you have any concerns about your child's progress, please contact the teacher to set up an appointment.

Philosophy

St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Preschool intends to provide an educational experience for children ages 3 through five in a Christian atmosphere. Our preschool inspires the child to reach their full potential through social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development. From the beginning, students experience acceptance and caring and learn they are all special and unique. Parents, teachers, administrator and the entire school community, combine to form a creative team for the sake of the child's balanced growth, which is at the heart of our preschool philosophy.

St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Preschool will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, age (other than the licensed span), sex, handicap (program may not be able to meet all needs), political persuasion or ancestry, in either its employment or enrollment policies.

Enrollment Policy

Children who are 3 years of age by September 1 of the school year may enroll in the pre 3 & 4 year old program. Those who are 4 years of age by September 1 of the school year may enroll in the 4 & 5 year old program. Enrollment is limited to 18 children in the Pre 3 & 4 year old class and 22 in the Pre 4 & 5 year old class. All children must be toilet trained.

Attendance and Absence

Please call school at 794-7622 before 9:15 am if your child will not be in school that day. Regular attendance is important for developing good habits and a positive relationship with classmates and teachers.

Class Times

Morning sessions are from 9:00-11:30 am for both the 3 & 4 year olds and 4 & 5 year olds. Please DO NOT arrive for preschool before 8:55 am. Our preparation time is essential for an exciting day of learning. The classroom door will be closed prior to this time. We will meet the children at the classroom door when it is time to come in.

If someone other that a parent or regular "pick up" person is to pick your child up, we ask that you notify the teacher(s) in writing. In an emergency, a phone call to the office is accepted.

All children are to be picked up at the scheduled time of 11:30. Please have a seat and wait quietly in the designated waiting area. Please do not stand at the classroom door.

Show and Tell

There will be designated days for Show and Tell. We encourage the children to bring items such as baby pictures or books, pets (please let us know what type), picture books, souvenirs from family vacations, baby brothers or sisters, newspaper articles of importance to them. Items from nature such as insects, caterpillars, flowers, leaves, etc. may be brought in any day.

Field Trips

You will be notified of field trips scheduled during the school year. Information and permission forms will be sent to every family. Signed parental permission forms are required for the children to participate. Verbal permission is not acceptable. If you misplace a form, ask in the office for another copy.
