The Power Of Positive Students program is a simple systematic program that focuses on helping students, parents, and employees build positive attitudes, life skills and competencies that will enable them to have a pleasant and productive journey through life. Focus is placed on success, not failure; potential, not limitations; strengths, not weaknesses; positives, not negatives.

POPS believes that the key to performance and behavior is self-esteem. Students who become effective citizens need basic knowledge and skills. They need to believe in themselves and learn to commit themselves to what they believe, being convinced that they make a difference, not only to themselves, but also to their friends and their community. The goal of POPS is to teach students how to integrate skills such as fairness, empathy, sharing, cooperation, forgiveness, honesty, loyalty, sincerity, justice, caring, tolerance, responsibility, kindness, integrity, wisdom, courage, truthfulness, and compassion with situations in their everyday life. With positive attitudes students are better able to respond creatively and intellectually.

A positive attitude is the central element to determining success. The POPS program is developed around this theme and includes four basic beliefs:

-A strong positive relationship exists between self concept and achievement.

-A positive self concept is learned and therefore it can be taught.

-Children need to feel successful in order to develop and/sustain a positive self concept.

-A positive learning climate, including school, home and community is crucial.

POPS is all about success. POPS draws out the best in people and together we create a positive climate for learning and personal growth. We stress that we are a team. We are all involved in implementing the philosophy of working together, supporting each other and creating a positive climate for our school and community.

Each month at a special POPS assembly we recognize students, parents, faculty and community members for demonstrating one of the Christian characteristics listed above. Working together, supporting each other, we CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
