BAPTISM

BAPTISM OF A BABY OR CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF SEVEN:

If you wish to have your child baptized, the following steps should to be taken:

1. Call our Family Life Ministry Director to set up an appointment for Baptism Preparation.

2. This process is done by family on an individual basis.

3. Both parents are expected to attend the Baptism Prep. If one parent is non-Catholic, this could be an opportunity to learn about the Catholic faith and to give folks an awareness of what we believe. It will also help the non-Catholic parent to participate in the Baptism Ceremony, as well as support the Catholic parent.

4. Once the appointment is set up, a Baptism Packet will be mailed to the family.

5. You need to commit yourselves to reading the provided materials prior to attending the Baptism Prep.

6. You may invite the god-parents to attend the Baptism Prep, but this is not mandatory.

7. Please feel free to bring your child with you when you come.

8. A $35 sacramental preparation fee will be charged and will presented at the time of the baptism prep meeting. (This covers cost of the stole fee and all the materials provided to you.) Please make checks payable to: St. Peter the Fisherman Parish (memo: Baptism Preparation)

If this poses a hardship, fee can be waived!

9. Please give yourself plenty of time for selection of your god-parents and Baptism date.

10. Date selection will only happen after the Baptism Prep is completed.

11. Baptisms take place after the 10:00 Mass on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

12. Four babies are our maximum per Sunday Baptism as each child is baptized individually.
